How we're responding to COVID-19

We're committed to supporting our partner organisations and invite Australians to register their interest in future volunteer opportunities.

Due to the unprecedented impact of COVID-19, the Australian Volunteers Program made the decision to repatriate Australian volunteers. We have also temporarily suspended sending Australians overseas as skilled volunteers.

We remain committed to supporting our valued partner organisations in the 26 countries in which we operate. Partner organisations with a volunteer who was repatriated to Australia due to COVID-19 can now apply for support through the Remote Volunteering and Impact Fund initiatives.

Remote Volunteering allows repatriated volunteers to complete a short-term remote assignment, helping them to stay connected and continue to support their partner organisation from Australia. Learn more about Remote Volunteering.

The Impact Fund provides eligible partner organisations access to a small grant that will help them and their communities respond to and recover from the impacts of COVID-19. Learn more about the Impact Fund.

The program is actively exploring new ways of working through our Innovation Fund, which identifies, develops and pilots new ideas and solutions to increase the impact of the program. Learn more about the Innovation Fund.

We're continuing to invite Australians to get involved. If you're interested in volunteering your skills and expertise overseas, as soon as it is safe and appropriate to do so, register for our Talent Pool via the link below.

Match your skills and interests to future volunteer assignments
